Pennsylvania at the Intersection of AI, Energy and Data Centers
Across the U.S., data center projects—some with staggering capital investments—are being announced at a rapid pace. Pennsylvania is right in the mix. From securing physical sites to locking in critical energy and water resources, proposed projects are popping up across the commonwealth. But beyond the headlines, the bigger story is why this is happening: a skyrocketing demand for computing power driven by everything from business operations to the explosive growth of artificial intelligence.
Individually, data centers, AI, and energy are each transformative forces. Together, they form a complex, fast-evolving intersection that few states are as well-positioned to navigate as Pennsylvania. At Team Pennsylvania, we see tremendous opportunity in our state’s strengths—world-class energy production, a deep bench of academic research, and a growing innovation ecosystem in both energy and artificial intelligence.
While many stakeholders are rightly focused on navigating the challenges of individual projects and tight timelines, we’re zooming out—thinking long-term and strategically. We invite you to learn more about the key elements we see as important for Pennsylvania by reading our response to the National Science Foundation’s recent Request for Information on a federal AI strategy, submitted in March.
JOIN THE CONVERSATION ON DATA CENTERS, AI, AND ENERGY
Get involved by joining us in Harrisburg on Wednesday, June 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for our next Energy Horizons Collaborative meeting, where we’ll explore the intersection of Data Centers, AI, and Energy. The session will feature expert insights, panel discussions, a networking lunch, and interactive breakouts. We’ll examine how AI is driving energy demand, and also shaping the future of the energy sector itself.
